FitMenu takes the privacy of its users seriously. This privacy policy explains how personal data collected, processed, and stored through the FitMenu mobile app is managed.
FitMenu is an iOS app that scans restaurant menus with your camera (QR codes) and provides AI-powered meal recommendations tailored to your health profile.
2. Data We Collect
FitMenu collects and processes the following categories of data:
- Account information: Name, email address, and encrypted authentication credentials, stored securely through Firebase Authentication.
- Health and biometric data: Age, gender, height, weight, nutrition goal, allergens, and chronic condition information. This data is entered voluntarily by the user and is used only to generate personalized recommendations.
- Usage data: QR menu scan history, selected dishes, like/dislike feedback, and scan counts.
- Technical data: Device information, app version, and error logs. These are used only to improve the app.
3. How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used to:
generate personalized meal recommendations that match your profile; create allergen and chronic condition warnings; let you track your nutrition history; improve the quality of AI recommendations over time; and monitor app performance and fix errors.
4. AI and Data Processing
FitMenu uses OpenAI's GPT-4o model to generate meal recommendations. For each recommendation request, your health profile (age, gender, height, weight, goal, allergens, chronic conditions) and the menu content are sent to the AI service.
This data is used only for real-time processing and is not stored permanently by OpenAI. FitMenu requests that this data not be used for model training.
You can withdraw your consent to AI processing at any time from the app's Settings screen.
5. Data Storage and Security
All user data is stored encrypted on Google Firebase infrastructure (Firestore and Authentication). Firebase holds SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 certifications.
Data is retained for the following periods:
- Account and profile data: for as long as the account is active.
- Scan history and feedback: until deleted by the user or the account is closed.
- Menu cache: 24 hours.
- AI request data: not stored permanently; processed in real time.
- Session data: cleared on sign-out or app removal.
6. Third-Party Services
FitMenu uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): authentication, database, and hosting services.
- OpenAI: AI-powered meal recommendation engine.
- Vercel: API server hosting.
- RevenueCat: subscription management.
- Google AdMob: advertising for free-tier users.
- Apple: app distribution and payment processing (App Store).
Each service provider's own privacy policy applies. FitMenu does not share user data with any third party for advertising purposes beyond the ad personalization handled by AdMob under your tracking consent.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
learn whether your personal data is being processed and request information about it; learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly; know the third parties to whom data is transferred in your country or abroad; request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data; request deletion or destruction of your data; and object to a result produced solely by automated analysis of your data.

8. Children's Privacy
FitMenu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13. Parents or legal guardians who become aware that their child has shared data may contact us.
9. Health Data Disclaimer
The meal recommendations and nutrition information provided by FitMenu are for informational purposes only. They do not constitute medical advice and are not a substitute for professional healthcare guidance. For serious health conditions, always consult a healthcare professional. FitMenu reads menus on a dish-by-dish basis and cannot guarantee that any restaurant or dish is free of cross-contamination.
10. Account Deletion
Users can permanently delete their account and all associated data using the "Delete Account" option in the in-app Settings screen. Deletion is irreversible.
Deleted data includes: account information, health profile, scan history, feedback, subscription data, and usage statistics.
11. Policy Changes
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. When significant changes are made, users will be notified within the app. Your continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy.

2. Service Description
FitMenu is a mobile app that scans restaurant menus via QR code and provides AI-powered meal recommendations suited to your health profile. Free users get 3 scans per week; before each free scan you may be shown a short ad. A Premium subscription unlocks unlimited scans and additional features.
3. User Responsibilities
It is your responsibility to enter accurate and up-to-date profile information and to keep your account credentials secure. Misuse of the app, reverse engineering, or the use of automated scraping tools is prohibited.
4. Health Warning
Recommendations provided by FitMenu are for informational purposes only and do not constitute medical advice. Users with serious allergies, chronic conditions, or special dietary needs should always consult a healthcare professional. FitMenu cannot be held responsible for health issues arising from nutrition decisions based on AI recommendations.
5. Subscription and Payment
Premium subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically. Cancellation must be done through your App Store settings. Access continues until the end of the subscription period. Refund requests are subject to Apple's refund policy.
6. Intellectual Property
The FitMenu app, its design, logo, content, and software are the intellectual property of FitMenu. Unauthorized copying, distribution, or modification is prohibited.
7. Service Changes
FitMenu reserves the right to change the app's features, pricing, or availability, with or without prior notice.
8. Limitation of Liability
FitMenu does not guarantee that the app will operate uninterrupted or error-free. It accepts no responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of restaurant menus, and does not provide an absolute guarantee of the accuracy of AI recommendations.
9. Governing Law
These terms of use are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul have jurisdiction over any disputes.
